Even if the National Gallery of Art had NO paintings, it would be worthy of frequent visits. It is palatial; it is pristine; it is serene. It is breath taking.
The rotunda entrance is grace by one of many of the gallery’s fountains. Flanking the fountain are massive black marble pillars.
If you turn right, you are greeted by this gorgeous, sculpture-filled corridor:
Dotting Each side of the corridor are doors that lead into various galleries. The corridor is much longer than it appears in this photograph. The art within each gallery is representative of one period of art or another.
